Timpani Heads

Premier Timpani require a head that is 1" bigger than the drum size, so a 25" Timpani takes a 26" head. Yamaha, Adams and Majestic timpani require a head that is 2" bigger than the drum, so a 29" timpani requires a 31" drum head.

To double-check the size you need, measure the diameter across the centre to the outside of the old timpani head OR across the centre of the inside of the counter hoop.

Some old timpani had calf-skin heads. These were usually made for the particular instrument and it is highly unlikely a modern standard head will fit.
